The Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, has appealed to women in the state to vote for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidates in the upcoming March 11 governorship and State House of Assembly elections, to prevent his impeachment.
Obaseki made this appeal during a meeting with women from the 12 wards in Oredo Local Government of the state, where he solicited support for the PDP candidates. Represented by his Chief of Staff, Osaigbovo Iyoha, Obaseki stated that his administration will continue to implement policies and reforms that would empower and improve the welfare of women.
According to him, the All Progressives Congress (APC) plans to disrupt the progress his government is making in Edo State. He called on the people to reject the APC candidates and vote for the PDP in the House of Assembly elections to sustain the developmental strides of his administration.
Obaseki also claimed that the APC is planning to rig the March 11 election to impeach him and stop his developmental programmes, which have benefited the people of Edo State. He urged the people to vote for the PDP and to ensure that all their votes are for the party.
Meanwhile, the Director General of Edo State PDP Campaign Council, Chief Osaro Idah, urged PDP women across the state to mobilize for the party's candidates and ensure their victory in the elections. The Woman Leader in Oredo LGA, Meg Aigbokhae, also assured the PDP of the women’s support needed for victory in the forthcoming election to enable the governor to continue with his developmental strides in the State.
