Cristiano Ronaldo thinks the Saudi Pro League, which he recently joined, has the potential to one day rank among the top five leagues in the world.
The captain of Portugal reportedly signed a deal with Al Nassr in January for more than €200 million ($220.16 million), according to various media sources.
With spells with Real Madrid in La Liga, Manchester United in the Premier League, and Juventus in Serie A, Ronaldo has competed in three of the best leagues in the world.
The 38-year-old claimed that even during his brief participation, the Saudi competition's caliber had increased.
"We are much better, the Saudi league is getting better, and next year will be even better," he said on Tuesday to Saudi SSC channel.
"I believe that this league will eventually rank among the top five leagues in the world, but it will take time, talent, and infrastructure to get there.
"However, in my view, this league will be fantastic because this country has wonderful potential and excellent people."
Tuesday's dramatic Al-Nassr comeback victory over Al Shabab, which halted Al-Ittihad's Saudi Pro League championship celebrations, was capped off by Ronaldo's game-winning goal.
