Alrebdi bin Fahd Al-Rebdi, the Chief of the National Data Management Office in the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), stated on Thursday that SDAIA is committed to the ethical and responsible advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) at both national and global levels.

He highlighted SDAIA's pivotal role in shaping global AI governance as the national authority responsible for regulating, developing, and utilizing data and AI in Saudi Arabia.

Al-Rebdi expressed these views at the 2024 World AI Conference and High-Level Meeting on Global AI Governance, with the theme "Governing AI for Good and for All," which took place from July 4 to 6 in Shanghai, China.

He emphasized that the Kingdom has made significant investments in AI research and development, established specialized centers, and prioritized collaboration with leading global technology firms.

The goal is to attain global leadership in this field and leverage its transformative potential across various sectors to realize the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.

Al-Rebdi also underscored SDAIA's active engagement with international organizations, governments, and industry leaders to shape global AI governance frameworks through partnerships.

SDAIA aims to contribute its expertise and perspectives to shape AI policies and standards that promote innovation and uphold ethical principles.

Al-Rebdi highlighted SDAIA's active participation in the preparation of the initial international scientific report on the safety of advanced AI, a result of collaborative efforts involving 75 AI experts from 30 countries, the European Union, and the United Nations.

He reiterated SDAIA's commitment to driving the responsible and ethical development and deployment of AI technologies for the benefit of humanity through international collaboration, ethical advocacy, regulatory framework development, knowledge exchange, and support for AI initiatives.
