He said that the reductions would help to cushion the impact of the fuel subsidy removal on residents.
"The governor has approved a 50% reduction in fares for all Lagos buses, effective from Wednesday," Gawat tweeted. "He has also approved a 25% reduction in the fares for yellow buses, which will be officially announced by their union,"

The fuel subsidy removal has been met with widespread criticism from residents, who have seen a sharp increase in the cost of transportation.
The government's palliative measures are seen as an attempt to mitigate the impact of the subsidy removal.
It remains to be seen whether the reductions will be enough to offset the rising cost of transportation. However, the measures are a welcome relief for many residents who are struggling to make ends meet.
