Russian Airstrikes Kill Four In Ukraine

POSTED ON November 8, 2023 •   World      BY Segun Adewole •   VIEWS 131
Ukraine witnessed a tragic escalation of violence on Friday as Russia initiated a new series of air strikes in both the central and eastern regions of the country. The attacks resulted in the loss of four lives and left dozens injured, further exacerbating the ongoing conflict. Interior Minister Igor Klymenko confirmed the devastating impact of these air strikes, revealing that a Russian aerial bomb struck the southern region of Kherson, particularly the town of Odradokamyanka, resulting in the deaths of three civilians—two women and a man. Additionally, four local residents sustained injuries in the attack. Minister Klymenko categorically condemned this act as a "war crime," highlighting the gravity of the situation. Odradokamyanka, situated approximately 60 kilometers (about 40 miles) upstream from Kherson city along the west bank of the Dnipro River, bore the brunt of this aerial assault. In the central city of Kryvyi Rig, the hometown of President Volodymyr Zelensky, a missile strike on a police building claimed the life of a policeman, as reported earlier by Minister Klymenko. Search and rescue efforts managed to extract three more individuals from the debris of the damaged structure, all of whom are in serious condition. Photographs from the scene depicted billowing smoke rising from the ruins of the building as rescue teams hurried to assist injured individuals. Local officials in Kryvyi Rig reported that over 40 people sustained injuries during the missile attack. Further air strikes by Russia targeted Sumy in northeastern Ukraine, leaving at least three individuals injured, according to official sources. Additionally, a rocket attack on Zaporizhzhia in the southeast caused injury to one man. Yuriy Malashko, the head of the local administration, revealed the extent of the attacks in the Zaporizhzhia region, disclosing that over the past 24 hours, 93 enemy attacks were recorded across 29 towns and villages in the area.
