Twenty former commissioners of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) have highlighted inadequate funding and lack of financial independence as major obstacles that have hindered the agency's effectiveness.
They expressed concern that these impediments have negatively impacted employee morale and hindered their ability to perform optimally.
The 20 commissioners were bid farewell at a ceremony after completing their tenure representing their respective states in the commission.
They urged all stakeholders to support the bill currently before the Senate, which seeks to grant the organization financial autonomy, in order to enable the commission to carry out its responsibilities effectively.
Honourable Samuel Adaa Magbe, representing Benue State, emphasized the need for improved funding and addressed the morale of the commission's staff.
He also expressed hope that the President would take action to address the issues.
Similarly, Hon. Adebayo Fari, representing Ogun State, called for adequate funding and emphasized the importance of human capital development within the organization.
Additionally, Modu Ali Juluri, a member representing Yobe State, suggested that RMAFC should be treated as a federation agency rather than solely a Federal Government agency.
