The Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.), has made appointments for the chairmen and members of eight boards, including the Rivers State University Governing Council chaired by former Nigerian Bar Association President, Okey Wali, SAN.
Similar roles were filled in the board of the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital, where Dr. Sampson Parker, a former Health Commissioner, will serve as Chairman, and Prof. Chizindu Alikor continues as Chief Medical Director.
Dr. Samuel Nwanosike, a past chairman of the Ikwerre Local Government Area and an ally of Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike, has been named chairman of the Rivers State Waste Management Agency, with Wokoma Amakiri appointed as managing director.
These appointments were announced in a Special Government Announcement by Prof. Ibibia Worika, the Secretary to the State Government, on Wednesday.
The statement indicates that "His Excellency, Vice Admiral (retd.) Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas, CFR, the Administrator of Rivers State, has approved the appointment of members for the following Boards."
Among the other appointments are Samuel Ogeh as Chairman of the Rivers State Universal Basic Education Commission, Tony Egwurugwu as Chairman of the Rivers State Senior Secondary Education Board, and Israel Egbunefu as Chairman of the Rivers State Internal Revenue Board. Prof.
Princewill Chike, a former Health Commissioner under Wike, is now the Chairman of the Rivers State Contributory Health Protection Programme, with Dr. Vetty Agala still serving as Executive Secretary.
Additionally, Prof. Adolphus Toby has been appointed as Chairman of the Rivers State Microfinance Agency, and five others will also serve on the board.
"The newly appointed Board members will be sworn in by His Excellency, the Administrator of Rivers State," the statement noted, without specifying when the inauguration will take place.
