Afrobeats singer Divine Ikubor, better known as Rema, visited the palace of His Royal Majesty, Uku Akpolokpolo Oba Ewuare II, and performed his award-winning song 'Calm Down'.
Rema arrived in his beloved city of Benin, Edo State, just days before his much-anticipated homecoming event, intending to reconnect with his roots and honor those who came before him.
The event, scheduled for August 30 at the renowned Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, was announced in July and has sparked enthusiasm across the country. Rema's journey was about commemorating the region that shaped him as well as his music, in a show of heartfelt affection and cultural devotion.
He met with Edo State Governor Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki and mingled with the city's elite, expressing his appreciation to the dignitaries who have backed his spectacular rise.
The governor also announced that the 6,000-capacity Edo Arena would be named after the global star, Rema during the groundbreaking ceremony of the project in Benin City on Wednesday.
