Carlo Ancelotti on Monday criticised his team for playing without "courage" or "personality" the last time it faced Manchester City in the Champions League.
Ancelotti told a news conference "We played without courage, without personality, courage and personality are fundamental in this type of game, we lacked them in the second leg,"
He said that this time round, however, no matter what the outcome, he expects a "very beautiful" match from a technical perspective when the European giants meet in the competition's quarterfinals.
The Coach said that in a repeat of last year's last four, Madrid will first host City at the Bernabeu before heading to Manchester for the deciding leg.
These circumstances in 2022/2023 saw the two teams tie 1-1 in the Spanish capital, but City thrash their visitors 4-0 at the Etihad ahead of going on to win the final.
Asked to reflect on what went wrong in northwestern England, and what he learned from one of Madrid's darkest nights on the continent, Ancelotti said that courage and personality are two very important aspects.
"Obviously there was also a lack of football. We didn't handle it in the best way, it was a mental and technical issue. They pressed us high up the pitch and we didn't know how to propose other things," he added.
Asked if tomorrow's encounter is "the most attractive match in the world", Ancelotti answered that it will be "very attractive for the world of football".
"I don't say that it's the most attractive because everyone has their own characteristics that they like.
