English forward Marcus Rashford has made a heartfelt plea for an end to the "malicious" rumors regarding his future at Manchester United. This comes after he missed the weekend's victory against Fulham due to an injury.
Rashford had found himself in the spotlight earlier for attending a nightclub party following Manchester United's 3-0 derby defeat to Manchester City on October 29. He subsequently issued an apology to United's manager, Erik ten Hag, who characterized Rashford's behavior as unacceptable. However, ten Hag also mentioned that the 26-year-old, who has been underperforming, remained "very motivated to put things right."
Rashford's absence from the match against Fulham was due to an injury sustained during training, described as a "heavy knock."
He had appeared as a substitute in the 3-0 defeat to Newcastle just three days after the disappointing loss to City.
In response to a tweet by The United Stand, a club fan channel, which posed the question, "Rashford's future in doubt? WE'RE LIVE!" Rashford took to X (formerly known as Twitter) and pleaded, "Please STOP spreading malicious rumors."
Despite his 30 goals across all competitions last season, Rashford has struggled to make a significant impact in the current campaign, with just one goal to his name. Manchester United's challenges are reflected in their current Premier League standing, where they find themselves in eighth place after five defeats in their first 11 games. Securing a place in the knockout stages of the Champions League is an uphill battle for the club.
