KANO, Nigeria —The Chairman of the Police Service Commission, DIG Hashimu Argungu (retd.), has called on admission seekers to shun bribery during the ongoing admission process into the Police Academy, Wudil, Kano.
He said anyone caught attempting to bribe or compromise will be immediately disqualified.
Argungu issued the warning during a supervisory visit to the academy, to oversee the 2024 Post-JAMB admission screening process.
He assured that the admission exercise would be conducted with integrity, fairness, and respect for equity.
This was contained in a statement issued by the commission's spokesperson, Ikechukwu Ani.
Ani who called on candidates to uphold ethical practices stated that, “Any candidate negotiating to pay money for consideration should be weeded out. The process must run on merit and transparency.
“The commission will ensure the academy is run on merit and fairness and accountability and transparency must be their watchword.”
Argungu also inspected various facilities at the academy, including the moot court, clinic, library, lecture theatres, and screening centres.
During the inspection, he directed immediate rectification of all malfunctioning devices to ensure a smooth screening exercise.
Commending the academy’s leadership, particularly its Commandant, AIG Abubakar Sadiq, Argungu praised the innovative measures implemented for the screening process, including the use of computer-based testing
He noted that the transparent process allows candidates to view their results immediately after submission, ensuring accountability.
