Ibrahim Owodunni, also known as Primeboy, a boyhood friend of the late musician Mohbad, has threatened to sue the deceased's mother, Abosede Adeyemo-Aloba, for alleged defamation.
Primeboy, In a statement issued by his lawyer, Akinpelu Ogunbona, stated that Mohbad's mother accused him of having an incident with her son before his death during an interview.
The statement said, “In the said interview, you alleged that our client always fought the late Mohbad and consistently complained about his neglect by the deceased since the singer rose to stardom.
“You also alleged that our client was advised to run away after Mohbad’s death so as not to be suspected regarding the death.
“Your actions are deliberate to injure and traduce the integrity of our client, who is a rising star in the music industry. Your allegations in the interview have negatively impacted the affection and love enjoyed by our client from his fans and well-wishers around the world.”
In an Instagram post, Primeboy gave the late singer's mother seven days to withdraw her allegations.
He also threatened to take legal action if she failed to comply.
Mohbad died on September 12, 2023, in unknown circumstances, and was buried the next day.
However, The Lagos State Police Command detained Primeboy and interrogated him at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Yaba, over a petition filed by Wunmi, the widow of the late singer, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.
Primeboy was arrested during a scheduled visit to the SCID alongside Ayobami Fisayo aka Spending.
A source privy to the development said that Primeboy and Spending had been asked to visit the SCID every week since the commencement of the investigation into the circumstances leading to the death of Mohbad.
