According to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the United Kingdom (UK) and Nigeria's partnership have strengthened as a result of their meeting with King Charles III of England.
On Thursday, Tinubu announced this via his official X account in a tweet.
He tweeted, “I had a productive meeting with His Majesty, King Charles III of
England who is also the Head of the Commonwealth and a passionate climate advocate.
“The meeting was a significant step in strengthening the partnership between
Nigeria and the United Kingdom, and I am optimistic about the positive impact our joint efforts will have on our planet’s future as we look forward to setting an equitable global standard for environmental stewardship at #COP28.”
In order to attend the COP28 Climate Summit, Tinubu left Abuja for Dubai, United Arab Emirates, on Wednesday.
The conference is known as the Conference of the Parties of the UNFCCC (COP28), or the 28th United Nations Climate Change Conference.
It is anticipated that Tinubu will return to Abuja following the summit.
Recall that President Bola Tinubu, on Wednesday, presented the 2024 appropriation bill before a joint session of the National Assembly.
The President in his presentation outlined the major sectors of the economy under which the budget will be prioritised.
Tinubu outlined national defence and internal security, local job creation, macro-economic stability, human capital development, social security, poverty reduction and investment as some of the areas his Budget of Renewed Hope will focus on.
This will be the president's first budget presentation since assumption of office six months ago.
