Premier League Liverpool Reject Al-Ittihad Offer For Mohamed Salah

POSTED ON September 1, 2023 •   Football      BY Ugwuagwu John

English Premier League giants Liverpool have turned down a £150m offer for Mohamed Salah from Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad.

It was gathered that it was an initial bid of £100m, with add-ons taking it up to a staggering £150m. The Reds have reiterated that the Egypt international is not for sale, and have stated that this is their final position on the matter. In 2017, Salah moved to the Anfield outfit from Italian Serie A club Roam, and last summer, he extended the deal for three further years, Sky Sports reports. The manager of the club, Jurgen Klopp, had maintained that the playmaker was "100% committed" to the Anfield cause, and on Friday he reiterated the club's stance that the player was not for sale. Klopp added: "The position remains the same. Absolutely no doubt about that. That's how it is. Nothing else to say." With the summer transfer window closing in Friday night, it seems too little too late as Liverpool would have a very short time to make any U-turn. However, Al Ittihad will still be open to signing new players as the Saudi pro league transfer will close on September 7. Salah's agent has previously dismissed talk of a move to Saudi Arabia but has not responded following the latest links with Al-Ittihad. "Mohamed remains committed to Liverpool," agent Ramy Abbas Issa wrote in a social media post on 7 August. "If we considered leaving Liverpool this year, we wouldn't have renewed the contract last summer." https://twitter.com/MailSport/status/1697621598616900080 Salah has started all three of Liverpool's games this season, with Klopp's side having accumulated seven points following a draw with Chelsea and wins against Bournemouth and Newcastle United. He is widely regarded as a superb footballer, and indeed one of the best African players of all time. He is an excellent winger known for his clinical finishing, dribbling and speed.
