Power Oil, a brand of vegetable cooking oil, has teamed up with the Kanu Heart Foundation to facilitate open-heart surgeries in Nigeria.
The partnership was recently announced by the founder of KHF, Kanu Nwankwo, and aims to save more lives through the foundation’s open-heart surgery programme.
Named ‘Together We Can Save A Heart’, the campaign aligns with Power Oil's vision to promote heart health.
Kanu pointed out the challenges in accessing healthcare in Nigeria, such as limited hospitals, leading to medical tourism and high exchange rates making it difficult for Nigerians to afford medical bills. This led to the partnership with Power Oil.
Kanu sees the partnership as mutually beneficial, encouraging consumers to support the foundation indirectly by purchasing the product.
He emphasized that Power Oil's vision of promoting heart health is in line with KHF's mission to assist people with heart problems.
Kanu also stressed the need for more hospitals in Nigeria that can perform open-heart surgeries, as there are over 200 patients on the KHF waiting list.
During the signing of the MoU, Kanu highlighted the foundation’s accomplishments, including nearly 667 heart operations.
Representatives from Tolaram Group, the makers of Power Oil, expressed that the foundation's integrity and impact over the years inspired their decision to support its work.
They stated that a portion of every Power Oil bottle sold will contribute to supporting KHF, ensuring that people with heart conditions receive assistance.
