The Jigawa State Governor, Umar Namadi, has stated that the destruction and looting of public and private properties during hunger protests across the state were politically motivated, carried out by miscreants rather than those genuinely affected by economic policies.
He expressed dismay over the violence, emphasizing that individuals with political motivations hijacked the protests and manipulated innocent youths into participating in the unruly acts.
The governor condemned the actions, noting the significant setback caused by the damage to public and private properties worth billions of Naira, including emergency relief materials and agricultural inputs.
Despite this, the government remains committed to improving the welfare and economic well-being of the people.
