Operatives from the Bauchi State Police Command have successfully prevented a mob from exacting justice on a 37-year-old man accused of repeatedly sexually assaulting his 15-year-old stepdaughter.
According to the Command, officers involved in Operation Restore Peace, headed by CSP Kim Abert, responded to reliable information and intervened in a mob action against the suspect, Wisdom Benoie.
This information was shared in a press release by the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Ahmed Wakil, on Monday. Wakil stated, “On May 31, 2025, Wisdom Benoie, a 37-year-old resident of Yalwan Tsakani, was confronted by a group of local youths who suspected him of secretly molesting his stepdaughter (Joy, a pseudonym).
The incident came to light when the victim’s father reported it to the ORP unit in Yalwan Tsakani.” Preliminary investigations indicated that the suspect is married to the victim’s mother (name withheld), making him her stepfather.
“It was revealed that he allegedly sexually assaulted the victim numerous times while her mother was asleep, entering her room to commit non-consensual acts. The victim, suffering in silence, ultimately confided in neighbors, which led to a coordinated intervention that caught the suspect in the act,” Wakil noted.
During questioning, the suspect allegedly admitted to the crimes. “The victim has been taken to a medical facility for examination and care.
The Commissioner of Police, Bauchi State Police Command, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has instructed that the case be forwarded to the State Criminal Investigation Department for a thorough investigation, after which the suspect will be prosecuted in court,” the statement concluded.
