The Lagos State Police Command has responded to threats made against the Igbo by Musiliu Akinsanya, aka MC Oluomo, the chairman of the Lagos State Parks Management Committee, prior to the governorship election.
Idowu Owohunwa, the commissioner of police in Lagos, responded while making an appearance on Friday's Newsday program on Arise Television.
In viral videos, MC Oluomo reportedly threatened Igbo in Lagos who wouldn't support his party, the All Progressives Congress, APC, to abstain from voting in tomorrow's governorship election.
"We begged them. It's not a fight if they decide not to support us in the election. Tell them, Mama Chukwudi, to sit down at home if you don't want to vote for us," he urged.
In response, Owohunwa stated that the threats are still being investigated while the video footage are being analyzed.
Well, I can confirm that all of the video recordings are being examined, he replied. Investigations are still being conducted into the statement, the accusations, and the threats. In this nation, nobody is above the law if facts are established that go against a legal provision. Law controls our existence and ties us to one another. No one is above the law's regulation of the political process. As a result, if these accusations are confirmed, you can be certain that the appropriate criminal and legal actions will be taken against the individual actors.
