Controversial singer, Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington, has been released on bail from police custody.
On Tuesday, Darlington was freed after fulfilling the terms of his bond.
Human rights lawyer Deji Adeyanju revealed this on his X page.
Adeyanju said Darlington was taken into custody in Abuja on Friday after Burna Boy submitted an official complaint, having first been apprehended in Lagos last Friday.
Burna Boy had accused Darlington of defaming and cyberstalking him.
Darlington had linked Burna Boy's connection to troubled US rapper Sean 'Diddy' Combs—who is accused of sexual abuse and human trafficking—by asking him to explain how he got the Grammy prize for his album 'Twice As Tall' in a widely shared video.
Following his remarks, Darlington was secretly picked up by the police.
Darlington's mother had earlier appealed to Burna Boy and his team to free her son from detention.
In a video message, Queen narrated how her son’s gateman informed her that Burna Boy and his team took away Speed Darlington.
Queen had appealed, “Nigerians, please come and help me, my son Speed Darlington has been missing for over four days now, after he made a video about Burna Boy and Diddy."
However, Adeyanju appreciated those who contributed to the singer’s release and commended the police in the IRT department for their professionalism.
“Special appreciation to #YeleSowore, super reliable senior lawyer #stanalieke, and to all Nigerians for raising their voice for Speed Darlington. Must also appreciate Prof Sanusi and his team at IRT for their professionalism today,” he wrote.
