LAGOS, Nigeria - Police operatives from the Lagos State Police Command have apprehended two suspected armed robbers in Sangotedo, located along the Lekki-Epe Expressway.
An automatic pistol and five live rounds of ammunition were seized by the officers during the operation. The suspects, identified as Emmanuel Cletus, 32, and Adegor Joshua, 27, were caught around 4:00 a.m. during a routine security check.
The spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrests, stating, “The duo, found with a loaded firearm, are currently being interrogated as investigations proceed.” A senior police official added, “The suspects were detained during an early-morning operation, and they are now in custody for possible prosecution.”
Hundeyin further explained that “this arrest highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat criminal activities along the Lekki-Epe corridor, which has been a hotspot for various security issues.” Investigations will determine if the suspects are linked to recent criminal incidents in the area. Residents are encouraged to stay alert and report any suspicious activities to enhance security.
“The case is anticipated to move to court once investigations are completed,” Hundeyin concluded.
