POSTED ON September 14, 2023 •   Entertainment      BY Ugwuagwu John

Mohbad filed a petition with the Lagos Annex of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) of the Nigeria Police Force on June 27, 2023.

In the petition, he alleged that music promoter Samson Balogun, also known as Sam Larry and 15 others had assaulted him and threatened his life. [caption id="attachment_10541" align="alignnone" width="1024"]Police Invited Sam Larry, Mohbad Failed to Show Up – FCID FCID claims Police invited Sam Larry, but it was MohBad who failed to show up. Photo: iBrandTV[/caption] They had reportedly disrupted a video shoot and damaged equipment worth over N5 million. According to the police, Mohbad did not show up to defend his petition or provide evidence to support his allegations. The police had invited Sam Larry and the other suspects for questioning, and they cooperated by giving their statements. In response to Mohbad's allegations, a lawyer representing Sam Larry and the other suspects filed a counter-petition accusing Mohbad of defamation of character. The police spokesperson stated that without Mohbad's cooperation and evidence to support his claims, there was little they could do in terms of investigation or prosecution. The text mentions that Mohbad passed away on September 12, 2023, at the age of 27. His death led to an outpouring of condolences and raised questions about the unresolved case. A video had emerged earlier showing Sam Larry and others allegedly harassing Mohbad on a music video set. This video stirred outrage on social media, with many people condemning the behavior of Sam Larry and his associates. The Nigerian Police Force issued an official statement expressing condolences for Mohbad's death and stating their commitment to conducting a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding his passing. They urged individuals with valuable information to come forward and assist in the investigation. Sam Larry reportedly deactivated his Instagram account after receiving backlash on social media for his alleged involvement in the harassment of Mohbad. The petition reads via The PUNCH: “I of the above name and address, a law-abiding citizen and a Musician, bring to your notice the assault and threat to my life by the above-mentioned persons. “On 25th June 2023, while having a video shoot with another artiste by the name Zlatan (Ibile, the above-mentioned persons numbering about fifteen led by Sam Larry Elegushi invaded the premises with dangerous arms such as guns, cutlasses etc. where I was shooting video and scattered the whole process of the shooting, damaged the equipment I was using for the shooting valued about Five Million Naira and started threatening my life which in the process they became violent and assaulted me which I sustained injuries but narrowly escaped. “Attached to this petition are the said pictures. The total amount I paid for the shooting they have destroyed is Eight Million Naira (N8,000,000), which is non-refundable. “However, during the assault, they were boasting that they work for Oba Elegushi and that they have been asked to deal with me for reasons best known to them, which, to date, they are still threatening to kill me if seen. Sir, I call on your good office to save my life from the above-mentioned persons and bring them to book. “Sir, I call on your good office to save my life from the above-mentioned persons and bring them to book,” the petition partly read. Thank you for your timely intervention.” When contacted by our correspondent on Thursday night over the recent development, the Police Public Relations Officer, FCID Annex, Lagos, Oluniyi Ogundeyi revealed that the police could not act on the petition due to Mohbad’s refusal to come up and adopt, defend, and also provide evidence to support the allegations made by him.
