19 Ad-Hoc staff members of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, who were abducted in the State early on Saturday morning have been freed by Imo State Police Command men.
Chinenye Chijioke-Osuji, a spokesman for INEC in the State, verified the news.
She claimed that after receiving a distress call, they were rescued and that the security personnel were informed of the situation and quickly went to work.
The electoral commission's Ad-Hoc staff members were abducted while en route to seven separate polling places in Ugbelie ward 06 of the State's Ideato South Local Government Area.
She continued by saying that some election-related materials, such as sensitive and BVAS materials, were not retrieved.
