ABUJA, Nigeria (NAN)- The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has provided clarification regarding the circumstances surrounding the death of retired Comptroller General of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), David Parradang, confirming that he passed away in a hotel in Abuja.
They indicated that the retired senior law enforcement officer was discovered deceased in his hotel room under various circumstances that warrant further investigation into the cause of Parradang's death.
This statement came in response to claims suggesting that the late officer had died in a kidnappers' den in Abuja.
In a statement released on March 4, 2025, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, detailed the events leading to Parradang's death. “On March 3, 2025, around 12:00 PM, Parradang arrived at Joy House Hotel, Area 3 Junction, driving a black Mercedes Benz.
He paid Twenty-two thousand naira (N22,000) for a one-night stay,” the statement indicated.
The police reported that Parradang later requested assistance to escort a female guest to his room.
“This lady left the hotel premises at approximately 4:00 PM the same day. However, Parradang did not leave his room after her departure,” Adeh explained.
Worried about his well-being, a military officer who was a friend of the deceased visited the hotel at around 4:00 AM on March 4.
“Upon arrival, the hotel receptionist and the officer went to his room, where they found Parradang deceased, seated in a chair,” the police spokesperson disclosed.
Authorities at the Durumi Police Station were notified, and officers quickly arrived at the scene. “The area was secured, photographs were taken, and all pertinent evidence was collected to maintain the integrity of the crime scene,” the statement noted.
The body has since been sent to the National Hospital for further examination, while hotel staff are cooperating with the ongoing investigation. “Efforts are underway to apprehend the woman,” the police added.
The FCT Police Command urged the public and media to refrain from disseminating unverified information, particularly regarding claims of kidnapping.
“We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we strive to ensure justice is achieved,” Adeh concluded.
