The Kano State Police Command has arrested three suspects for allegedly killing a 32-year-old man, Dahiru Musa, in Dorayi quarters within the Kano metropolis.
This information was contained in a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna.
It was gathered that the suspects were apprehended following a report from the brother of the deceased that one Dahiru Musa, 32, was missing and that he strongly suspected one of his close associates to be involved in his sudden disappearance.
Haruna noted, “On 29/09/2024 at about 07:30pm, a report was received from a resident of Dorayi Quarters, Kano that his brother one Dahiru Musa, 32, of same address was missing and he strongly suspected one of his (deceased’s) close associates, Aliyu Adamu, 22 of Gaida Yan-Kusa Quarters, Kumbotso LGA, Kano State who happened to be his last contact before he got missing,” he said.
The PPRO explained further that upon receipt of the report, “a team of detectives swung into action and arrested the said Aliyu Adamu on September 30, 2024.
“During the course of investigation, the suspect confessed to having conspired with his friend, Mubarak Abdulsalam, 20 of Mandawari Quarters Kano, to lure the victim to his house located at Gaida Yan-Kusa Quarters under the pretext of negotiating land business.
“He then offered him food with poison, and having discovered that he was unconscious, they used knives and stabbed him to death. They later packed the remains in a sack and threw them to an uncompleted building near his house.
“He further confessed that their intention was to convert the deceased’s landed property to his own as he was in possession of the land documents.
“Further investigation led to the arrest of the accomplice, Mubarak Abdulsalam who confessed that upon getting the information that Adamu has been arrested, he conspired with one Sadiq Sunusi, 19, of Mandawari Quarters, used petrol and burnt the deceased body to erase evidence. The body was evacuated to Murtala Mohammed Specialists Hospital Kano for autopsy.”
Haruna added that all three suspects are currently at the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department, Homicide Section, undergoing investigation, after which they will be charged to court.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Salman Dogo Garba hailed those involved in the investigation process.
