EDO,Nigeria - The Edo Police Command has arrested a 27-year-old man for prosecution after he was caught with a fresh human head in the Evbuotubu area of Benin.
According to the command's Public Relations Officer, CSP Moses Yamu, the suspect was apprehended by operatives from the Evbuotubu Division, working alongside local vigilantes.
During questioning, the suspect guided officers to a decapitated body found along the road close to Eweka Shopping Plaza.
The police spokesperson confirmed that the deceased has been identified as 43-year-old Edobor Lawrence from Osagie Street, Evbuotubu Quarters. "The remains have been sent to a hospital for preservation as investigations proceed," he stated.
Yamu also reported that the state’s Commissioner of Police, Betty Otimenyin, expressed condolences to the victim's family and assured the public that those responsible for the crime will face justice.
He further encouraged young individuals to pursue legitimate means of livelihood instead of engaging in criminal activities.
Yamu called on residents to report any suspicious activities, reinforcing the command's dedication to ensuring the safety and security of the community.
