The Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate in the just concluded election, Peter Obi, has filed a suit at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal, Abuja, against the electoral commission's declaration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner.
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Bola Tinubu, and the All Progressives Congress are named as defendants in the CA/PEC/02m/2023 petition, which names Peter Obi and the Labour Party, LP, as plaintiffs.
Recall that on Wednesday, Tinubu was proclaimed the winner of the presidential election by the Independent National Electoral Commission, or INEC. The electoral body had also issued Tinubu a certificate of return.
Obi claimed to have won the 2023 presidential election, though.
He claims that his mandate was stolen and that the only way he can get it back is by going to court.
On Thursday, the former governor of Anambra State addressed a global press conference.
"We'll investigate every available legal avenue to reclaim our mission. The election went our way. Nothing can stop me from working toward a better future for the nation, he declared.
