The president of Real Madrid, Florentino Perez, was re-elected on Sunday for a term that extends until 2029, running unopposed for the position.
"With only one candidacy presented... (Perez) is officially declared president of Real Madrid," stated the club, Los Blancos. The announcement came after Madrid's impressive 4-1 victory over Las Palmas, which propelled them to the top of La Liga.
At 77 years old, Perez has not encountered any challengers in four elections (2013, 2017, 2021, and 2025) since his return to the club in 2009 for a second term. He was initially elected as president in 2000, during which he oversaw the club's Galactico era, before resigning in 2006.
Since his return in 2009, Madrid has secured five Spanish league titles and an impressive six European cups, among other trophies.
