The Labour Party (LP) candidate in the most recent election, Peter Gregory Obi, on Tuesday submitted an additional 188 exhibits in an effort to substantiate his claims of irregularities in the administration of the February 25 presidential election against the declaration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the winner.
The Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC) accepted the exhibits, primarily the results sheets and reports used by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) during the election, to be used in deciding whether Tinubu's reelection as president was lawful or not.
Through Senior Advocate of Nigeria Peter Afoba, SAN, Obi submitted forms EC40GPU and EC40G1 as well as reports created by the electoral board following the election.
According to a breakdown, 52 EC40GPU forms were tendered in five Local Government Areas of Sokoto, 23 in seven Local Government Areas of Osun, 17 in three Local Government Areas of Edo State, and 45 EC40GPU forms were offered in ten Local Government Areas of Niger State.
Obi also submitted 15 EC40G forms in 8 Local Government Areas of Osun State, 12 EC40G1 forms in 12 Local Government Areas of Edo, 15 EC40G forms in 4 Local Government Areas of Sokoto, and 9 EC40G1 forms in 2 Local Government Areas of Sokoto.
In order to support his claims of irregularities during the conduct of the election, the Labour Party's presidential candidate also submitted five reports on the conduct of the poll in Niger State and eight in Edo.
The All Progressives Congress (APC), INEC, Tinubu, Kashim Shetima, and other parties opposed the exhibits' admission, but Haruna Simon Tsammani, the court's presiding justice, allowed them to be used as exhibits.
Obi presented INEC Results Viewing (IRev) reports for 21 Local Government Areas in Adamawa State, 20 in Ogun State, 16 in Ekiti State, 19 in Rivers State, and 25 in Akwa Ibom State during Tuesday's sessions.
The Court has in the meantime scheduled a June 14 hearing for the petition.
