The Peoples Democratic Party has urged the Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission to ensure fair treatment for all political parties participating in the upcoming local government elections in the state's 16 local government councils.
The party's statement, signed by its Publicity Secretary, Olusegun Adewara, and released in Ilorin, Kwara State capital, expressed concerns about a potential bias between the electoral body and the ruling All Progressives Congress.
The party stated that it is fully prepared for the elections and has not requested any changes to the election timetable.
The PDP also raised concerns about the local government administration being affected by the appointment of Transition Implementation Committee chairmen by the Governor in 2019.
The party expressed worries about a perceived alliance between the ruling APC and KWASIEC, particularly regarding the conduct of the elections.
The PDP emphasized the need for transparency and fairness in the electoral process.
