The Peoples Democratic Party in Akwa Ibom State has won 30 chairmanship seats, leaving the All Progressives Congress with a seat.
The electoral list of the elected chairmen signed by the Chairman of the Akwa Ibom State Independent Electoral Commission, Elder Aniedi Abasi Ikoiwak, stated that while the APC won in the Essien Udim LGA of the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, PDP won in 30 LGAs.
Governor Umo Eno has announced plans to swear in the elected chairmen today (Monday), as the AKISIEC presented them with the certificates of return on Sunday.
The governor said it was pertinent the officials were inaugurated swiftly into their various positions in order to carry out rapid development.
He said, “Election was concluded yesterday. Results are trickling in. We are swearing in new chairmen tomorrow by 8 am. We want to thank those that have served. They have done well.
“The window we negotiated with the Federal Government was till October, and this is October.
“So we need to quickly swear in those chairmen so that they will start receiving their allocations and work for their people."
