The National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party has released its schedule of activities ahead of the Edo State governorship election.
Following a joint meeting of the party's Board of Trustees and National Executive Committee at its Abuja headquarters on Thursday, the schedule, which was signed by Umar Bature, the National Organising Secretary of the party, was made public.
The schedule states that on February 22, 2024, the party will convene its congress, at which time its nominee for governor will be announced.
As per reports, those who wish to run for governor will be able to obtain the nomination form for N21 million, while youngsters between the ages of 25 and 30 will receive a 50 percent reduction on the nomination form costs.
The program of events states that registration for both new and existing members will take place from November 16 to December 7.
The deadline for submitting the ward register to the Directorate of Organization and Mobilization is December 14. Meanwhile, the National Working Group will host a consultative meeting with stakeholders on December 19 and 20.
The dates of sales for expression of interest and ad hoc forms are set for January 10–16 for all offices, and the deadline for submitting completed forms is January 17.
On January 18, 2024, the National Working Committee will examine candidates for the governorship.
Sales of nomination forms to candidates who have completed and filed their expression of interest form are scheduled for January 19–25. The deadline for submitting nomination forms that have already been completed is January 27.
February 22 is for the governorship primary, while February 24 is for the appeal for the governorship primary.
