The national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has officially postponed its ward and Local Government Area congresses in Abia and Ebonyi States, which were initially planned for Saturday, July 27.
A neighbor shares a disturbing account of how a woman abused her 12-year-old niece, using a hot knife to burn her and forcing her to endure further mistreatment.
This decision was communicated to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, through a letter jointly signed by the acting national chairman of the party, Ambassador Umar Damagum, and national secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu. The postponement was attributed to operational challenges.
The letter stated, "Due to operational challenges, we are compelled to postpone the congresses in Abia and Ebonyi States. We will notify the Commission once new dates are fixed for these aforementioned states. What this means is that ward, LGA, and state congresses will not hold in these states as earlier scheduled. We will continue to update the Commission on this issue."
In the meantime, Chief Francis Etizu, PDP Chairman, Ward 1, Ahikwu Olokoro, Umuahia South Local Government Area, has provided reasons for obtaining a court injunction to halt the proposed congresses.
