Patoranking loses sister, brother-in-law to gas explosion

Famous Nigerian Afrobeats singer Patoranking has lost his sister, Chioma, who reportedly died in an explosion which occurred in her home.

Chioma was said to have died days after the tragedy, while her husband, George, died from injuries on Wednesday, September 11, 2024.

DSP Joshua Ukandu, spokesperson for Ebonyi State Police Command, confirmed the incident to journalists on Thursday, September 12, 2024. 

This followed suspicion in certain quarters that the two had died as a result of a dynamite or inverter battery explosion.

The explosion occurred a few days after the couple relocated to their new home in Abakiliki.

“The preliminary report showed that it was a gas explosion that k!lled Chioma and not dynamite or battery, although further investigation is still ongoing,” the PPRO said.
