The founder and pastor of iReign Christian Ministry, Feyi Daniels has been remanded for life imprisonment on the charge of raping his assistant.
The Lagos-based cleric, was found guilty by the judge presiding the case, Judge Rahman Oshodi for sexually assaulting a 23 year old assistant. He was however sentenced to court by an Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence court.
It is noteworthy that there are four women who had accused the cleric of sexual assault in the past.
During a cross-examination, the prosecution's lead counsel, Babajide Boye, accused Daniels of using his position as a pastor to manipulate those seeking counseling, a claim vehemently denied by the defendant.
The prosecutor questioned the defendant about a visit to his Akungba fellowship center, where an alleged victim reportedly hissed upon seeing him. Daniels explained it as dissatisfaction over financial assistance while acknowledging that there was a strained relationship with the woman due to financial constraints.
The prosecutor sought to introduce statements purportedly written by Daniels while in police custody, highlighting contradictions between the statements and the defendant's testimony.
Despite objections from the defense counsel, Adebayo Adegbite, Justice Rahman Oshodi admitted the documents, stating that their evidential value would be considered later.
