Osimhen Set To Sue Napoli For Serious Damage Over Tiktok Trolling

POSTED ON September 27, 2023 •   Football      BY Lawrence Omoge •   VIEWS 173

The Nigerian striker is considering legal action against his own club after they posted a video that mocked him for missing a penalty.

Napoli's Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen is reportedly considering legal action against the club after it uploaded a TikTok video making fun of him for missing a penalty in a recent 0-0 draw with Bologna. Napoli has already deleted the TikTok video. However, the event has prompted questions about the club's culture and the way it treats its players. Roberto Calenda, Osimhen's agent, has indicated the player is contemplating legal action against Napoli. Calenda stated the TikTok video was "unacceptable" and that it did "serious damage" to Osimhen's reputation. He then went on to convey his disapproval, saying: “What happened today on Napoli's official profile on the TikTok platform is not acceptable. A video mocking Victor was first made public and then, but now belatedly, deleted.” “A serious fact that causes very serious damage to the player and adds to the treatment that the boy is suffering in the last period between media trials and fake news." The case is trending on X as "Video 1". https://twitter.com/PulseSportsNG/status/1706632092598095998?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1706632092598095998%7Ctwgr%5E32584392ad414eaa27b80d7afb1d4d1eae6e5334%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.pulsesports.ng%2Ffootball%2Fstory%2Ftiktok-trolling-osimhen-set-to-sue-napoli-for-serious-damage-2023092622053626771 Angry Nigerian fans have tagged the post as being disrespectful and racist; threaten to dump Napoli for trolling the most valuable African player over the penalty miss. It takes courage to sue your club, but Osimhen's move could have far-reaching effects on how players are treated in the future. If Osimhen wins his case, more players may feel emboldened to sue their teams for similar maltreatment.
