Before the news that the striker would prefer to play in the Saudi Pro League, there had been speculations about his next move, with friends and fans on social media engaging in a 'war' of facts about his contract terms.
Though a Nigerian journalist and known ally of Osimhen, Adebayo Sulaiman, had been giving details about the player's transfer speculations, insisting that the striker won't be heading to Chelsea this summer, others claimed that the striker would be heading to England from Italy.
The debate got hotter when a German-based Nigerian journalist, Oma Akatugba, claimed that the Super Eagles striker might be heading to Chelsea.
He claimed that according to his sources, the player had agreed to a weekly wage of €350,000 with Chelsea.
He said though the striker initially sought €500,000 per week, Chelsea persuaded him to accept the lower figure.
However, the journalist warned that Chelsea fans should not celebrate just yet, as the Saudi clubs are still in the race and are offering even more money.
He said, "The reported figures of €500,000 requested by Victor Osimhen and €350,000 offered by Chelsea are false.
"Osimhen's friends have refuted these claims, stating that the player never asked for such an amount and Chelsea did not propose anything close to it.
"The journalist, who reported this information, is being criticized for spreading unconfirmed details."
