Former Nigerian forward Peter Ijeh believes that potential suitors are steering clear of Victor Osimhen due to his attitude and character as a player for Napoli. Ijeh, who spent a significant portion of his career in Scandinavia, commented on a Facebook post, stating that in Europe, attitude and character are highly valued and that Osimhen seems to lack an understanding of this.
He also mentioned that Europe is a close-knit community where everyone knows each other, unlike Lagos, which is larger than six European countries.
This comment was made in reference to Osimhen's verbal altercation with former Super Eagles coach Finidi George.
Osimhen has already played his final game for Napoli and has expressed his desire to leave the club at the end of the previous season. Napoli is open to selling him, but his £100 million release clause has been a significant obstacle in his transfer.
Napoli has recently reduced the asking price to £85 million, and there have been reports of interest from Manchester United.
However, Manchester United, along with other Premier League clubs like Chelsea and Arsenal, have all backed out of negotiations.
Napoli even offered Osimhen to Manchester United in exchange for Mason Greenwood and additional funds.
Additionally, new Napoli coach Antonio Conte has reportedly informed Osimhen that he will not be the main striker for the team in the upcoming season.
