The lawmaker for Edo North Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Adams Oshiomhole, expressed his gratitude on Friday to the opposition party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), for allowing Nyesom Wike to join the current administration.
Speaking at a New Year’s luncheon hosted in Port Harcourt by the Federal Capital Territory minister, Oshiomhole praised Wike for his significant contributions to President Bola Tinubu’s government.
He noted that Wike has proven to be a valuable asset to the ruling party and the administration, particularly for his efforts in the Federal Capital Territory.
Referring to Wike as a player borrowed from the PDP, Oshiomhole thanked the opposition for permitting Wike to assist in the All Progressives Congress-led government. He remarked, “Thank you to PDP for giving us Nyesom Wike to help us improve Abuja. I don’t belong to any club, just Bendel Insurance, but I hear those who claim to be Manchester United fans and others.”
He humorously added, “Thank you for your assistance to us in APC. PDP Rivers handed you over to us without demanding a transfer fee,” Oshiomhole stated.
He further mentioned that the APC would be reluctant to let Wike return to the PDP, given his substantial contributions to President Tinubu’s administration.
“We might not be pleased to let you go back; we might even set up a toll gate to stop that,” he quipped.
