Doyin Okupe, a former director general of the Labour Party Presidential Campaign Organization, has responded to the UK court's conviction of Senator Ike Ekweremadu, a former vice president of the Nigerian senate.
According to reports, Ekweremadu and his wife, along with Nigerian physician Obinna Obeta, were found guilty of attempting to harvest the organs of a Nigerian who had been transported to Britain in order to provide them a kidney for their daughter who was ill.
In response, Okupe asked for divine intervention and the family's support on his Twitter page.
"This morning, my thoughts are with Ekweremadu, his wife, and their unfortunate family. In this case, I am unable to serve as a judge.
"But I fervently hope that the all-powerful God who is in charge of human events would step in and stop this tragic development. God, please do as you said and assist us now."
