Olajide Omotayo has secured a spot in the men’s table tennis event at the 2024 Olympic Games.
Omotayo earned his berth following a commanding 4-0 victory over Congo-Brazzaville’s Saheed Idowu in their semi-final match at the qualifying tournament in Kigali, Rwanda.
This achievement marks his second appearance at the Olympics.
In the women’s category, Offiong Edem also secured her place in Paris 2024 after a hard-fought 4-2 semi-final victory over Tunisia’s Fadwa Garci.
The 37-year-old Edem will be making her fifth appearance at the Olympics, adding to her extensive experience in the sport.
The qualifying tournament in Kigali will conclude on Saturday, determining the final set of qualifiers for the upcoming games.
