The Ohanaeze Ndigbo has encouraged Bola Tinubu, the president-elect, to create a unity government and contact Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar, the candidates of the Labour Party and the People’s Democratic Party, respectively.
In a spirit of sportsmanship, Ohanaeze advised Tinubu to approach Atiku and Obi, stressing that the reconciliation shouldn't be carried out through intermediaries.
The call was made in a statement that was signed by Okechukwu Isiguzoro, the Secretary-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo.
"Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has asked him to reach out to other competitors in the spirit of sportsmanship and as the National Healing Process should begin with the President-Elect personally reaching out to Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, in person not through proxies," he said.

He asserted that the creation of a Government of National Unity (GNU) was what was needed to calm people's fears and bring about peace throughout the nation.
