The Ogun State Government team led by the Commissioner for Education, Prof Abayomi Arigbabu, has embarked on sensitisation across the state to drive enrollment of children in public schools.

Arigbabu, while speaking during the sensitisation campaign held at selected markets and motor parks in Ijebu-Ode, Sagamu, Ilaro, and Abeokuta on Friday, said that facilities in public schools and those for children with special needs across the state had been upgraded to achieve a conducive teaching and learning environment.

He equally emphasised that these schools have qualified and competent teachers who have what it takes to bring the best out of the children and prepare them for greatness in life.

Arigbabu said, “We are embarking on this sensitisation to ensure no child in Ogun State is denied of qualitative education which the government has made free.

"We are here to tell the parents and guardians that the free registration of children for the next 2024/2025 academic session has commenced for three and six years old into pre-nursery, nursery and primary one classes respectively.

The ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Oluwatosin Oloko, enjoined parent to be patient and allow their wards to go through normal process of learning, to make them firm and attain maturity as they progress to higher institutions.

Contributing, Executive Secretary, State Universal Basic Education Board, Dr. Mikail Lawal, advised parents to inculcate discipline and morals into their children and live by good examples.
