Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), has suggested his intention to contest the 2027 presidential election in Nigeria. He made this indication while commending Nigerian youths for their support during the 2023 presidential election.
Obi's remarks were delivered during a world press conference held in Abuja. At the conference, he also criticized the Supreme Court for its decision to uphold President Bola Tinubu's election.
Expressing his disappointment with the Supreme Court's judgment, Obi argued that it shattered the trust Nigerians had in the judiciary. He asserted that the judgment marked the conclusion of his pursuit of justice regarding the conduct of the 2023 presidential election.
During the conference, Obi lauded the remarkable energy and support demonstrated by Nigerian youths. He assured them that their collective journey had just begun, emphasizing that their destination remained a united Nigeria.
"The energy of Nigerian youths has been amazing, and I want to assure them that this is not the end of our journey, but it is the beginning," Obi declared. "We shall endure and persist until we reach our destination because one Nigeria is our ultimate goal."
Obi's statement hints at his ongoing involvement in Nigerian politics, and his indication of a potential presidential bid in 2027 underscores the fluid and dynamic nature of the country's political landscape. It is a signal of the aspirations and ambitions that continue to shape the nation's political future.
