Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State and the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2023 election, Atiku Abubakar have expressed deep sadness over the reported death of the Group Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings Plc, Herbert Wigwe in a helicopter crash near the California-Nevada border in the United States.
According to initial reports, the tragic incident also claimed the lives of Wigwe's son and wife, along with former Nigeria Stock Exchange group chairman, Abimbola Ogunbanjo. The crash occurred on Saturday, prompting an outpouring of condolences from various quarters.

It is noteworthy that the deceased and his family were in the Eurocopter EC130 helicopter that crashed around 10 p.m local time near Nipton, Calif. It crashed in an unincorporated community approximately 60 miles south of Las Vegas in eastern San Bernardino County, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
