Former President Barack Obama has condemned the recent shooting incident at Donald Trump’s campaign rally in Pennsylvania.

He called for a return to civility in American politics.

“There is absolutely no place for political violence in our democracy,” Obama stated via X on Sunday.

The incident occurred as Trump began his final rally before the Republican party convention, with witnesses reporting what sounded like gunshots.

Obama acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding the event, saying, “Although we don’t yet know exactly what happened, we should all be relieved that former President Trump wasn’t seriously hurt.”

He urged for a broader recommitment to respectful political discourse.

The chaotic scene unfolded when Trump was rushed off stage by Secret Service agents after a series of loud bangs.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing blood on Trump’s right ear as he was quickly escorted away.

John Yeykal, an attendee from Franklin, Pennsylvania, described the confusion stating, “We saw a lot of people go down, looking confused. I heard the shots, it sounded like between firecrackers and a small caliber handgun.”

“Michelle and I are wishing him a quick recovery,” Obama added.
