The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved seven additional courses for McPherson University in Ogun State.
The newly accredited programmes include Medical Laboratory Science, Computer Science, Cyber Security, Software Engineering, Biochemistry, Microbiology, and Mass Communication.
The university’s accreditation followed the release of the October/November 2023 accreditation of academic programmes in Nigerian universities.
All the seven programmes received full accreditation with excellent scores from the NUC.
This information was contained in a statement by the university’s Deputy Registrar on Information and Public Relations, Sanmi Enigbokan.
The statement also confirmed that the NUC’s Executive Secretary communicated the accreditation results to the university.
According to the statement, the institution's Vice-Chancellor, Prof Francis Igbasan, announced the achievement during a recent meeting with the university community.
He credited the success to divine grace, the dedication of faculty and staff, and the availability of cutting-edge resources and facilities for teaching, learning, and research at all levels.
Igbasan called on everyone to prepare for future challenges in positioning the institution for greater achievements.
Igbasan said, “The seven newly accredited programmes are Medical Laboratory Science, Computer Science, Cyber Security, Software Engineering, Biochemistry, Microbiology, and Mass Communication. Each programme’s accreditation is valid until 2028.
“With this series of accreditations, all academic programmes at McPherson University are now fully accredited.
“This reaffirmed our status as a premier institution and one of Nigeria’s fastest-growing centres of learning.”
