The actor had recently relocated to Bamenda on November 23, 2023, to work on a film project.
Confirming the unsettling occurrence, the film company responsible for inviting Madu released a statement on Monday detailing the events that unfolded on Saturday. According to the statement, unidentified gunmen stormed a drinking spot where the actor was socializing with others around 10 pm. The attack took place at BIG G VIP in Mile 3 Nkwen during a snooker championship organized by the establishment.
The film company, DAMA Films, revealed that the visit was part of a movie shoot advocating against hard drug addiction. The initially joyous occasion took a tragic turn when gunshots rang out, causing chaos and resulting in the unfortunate deaths of four individuals, with over 10 others sustaining serious injuries.
The statement read, "The police intervened, securing the safety of Nollywood actor Sylvester Madu and dispersing the crowd. The police are currently conducting investigations to this effect, as they assured the safety of Sylvester Madu and his subsequent excursion to his country, Nigeria."
