OYO, Nigeria - Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde has refuted rumors regarding his possible candidacy for the 2027 presidential election, asserting that his main focus is on fulfilling the responsibilities entrusted to him by the people of Oyo State.
During an interview, the governor, who is a member the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), addressed inquiries about his potential interest in vying for the PDP presidential ticket, which could see him contesting against President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Makinde reiterated that his attention is solely on his current duties.
He stressed that he is dedicated to completing the work required in Oyo State.
“My focus at the moment is the significant work that the people of Oyo State have assigned to me,” Makinde remarked.
“I have accomplished some tasks, but there is still much more to be done.” He said
Makinde made it clear that he is not contemplating a presidential campaign in 2027.
He stated, “I have substantial work that the people of Oyo State have entrusted to me. I have made progress, but there is still a lot to accomplish. My priority is not to seek the presidency in 2027, but to fulfill the mandate given to me by the people of Oyo State.”
