NNPC E&P Ltd., the flagship upstream subsidiary of NNPC Ltd., and NOSL,a subsidiary of SEEPCO, have announced the successful commencement of oil production at Oil Mining Lease (OML) 13 in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria.
The production began on May 6th, 2024, with an initial output of 6,000 barrels of oil, and is projected to increase to 40,000 barrels per day by May 27th, 2024. This was disclosed in a statement by Olufemi Soneye, the Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPC Ltd.
Soneye emphasized that the first oil flow from OML 13 signifies a significant milestone in the partnership between NNPC E&P Ltd and NOSL. This demonstrates their commitment to driving growth and development in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector, a crucial component of its economy.
He also highlighted that this achievement not only represents the culmination of meticulous planning and execution by the involved teams but also marks the beginning of new economic empowerment and development opportunities for the host communities.
Moreover, the commencement of oil production from OML 13 is important for Nigeria as it contributes to the country’s efforts to boost its oil production capacity, which is essential for meeting domestic energy needs and stimulating economic growth.
