The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has urged President Bola Tinubu not to ignore the planned nationwide protest scheduled to begin on August 1, but to instead address the concerns of the people through the leaders of the protest.
In a statement issued on Monday in Abuja, President of the NLC, Comrade Joe Ajaero, said that Nigerians are extremely unhappy, emphasising that the country's hardships are worsening, with many forced to resort to eating from the dustbin as a form of luxury.
The NLC boss called on President Tinubu to engage in discussions with the protest leaders to address their grievances and acknowledge that millions of Nigerians are suffering due to the state of the nation's economy.
Ajaero also urged the government to listen to the people's cries rather than using authoritarian methods to suppress their right to express themselves.
